Wycombe Partnership Community Champions 2011
The nomination period for this year's Wycombe Partnership Community Champions Awards, to be held on 2 November, is now open. Hopefully, you received our Save the Date email and already have this date in your calendar!
I would like to make this year's awards the most successful to date and ask for your help in ensuring that many local people are nominated.
The awards are a bi-annual event that recognise and celebrate the achievements of groups and individuals and promote opportunities for everyone in the Wycombe district to become involved in supporting their community. In the current climate it is more important than ever to value and support the voluntary and community sector, and this event offers a valuable opportunity to do so.
The five awards are:
- Healthy Communities Project Award
- Community Safety Project Award
- Volunteering Award
- Young Community Champion of the Year Award – up to and including 25 years old
- Barbara Maher Community Champion of the Year Award
Everyone who is nominated for an award will receive an invitation to attend the awards evening, a certificate of commendation to recognise their work in the community and an opportunity to promote their work, project or organisation. The five award winners will receive public acknowledgement, a cheque for £500 and an award. Nomination forms are available to complete online
We hope to identify people and organisations who haven't necessarily been nominated or acknowledged in the past, along with those who have been making a positive contribution to their community for some time.
The closing date for nominations is Friday 30 September 2011.
The Community Champions 2011 will take place on 2 November in the Town Hall. Beginning with a 'Meet and Greet' reception, finger buffet and view of displays at 6.00pm, followed by the main award ceremony starting at 7.30pm. It is envisaged the evening will end at 9.00pm.
We look forward to receiving your nominations and welcoming you to the awards event.
