Hillclimb win "UK Garage of the Year" award

Hillclimb was up against Independent Garages across the country and the shortlisted
finalists were gathered at a special evening dinner held in the Director’s Lounge, Aston Villa
Football Club on Tuesday 5 June. Hillclimb started the evening by winning the title Small
Garage Of The Year, but then went on to be crowned Overall Winner of Garage Of The Year
UK.
Nicola Wakeling, Director at Hillclimb said “We are incredibly proud of what we have
achieved – we do things so differently here – its all about being transparent and honest and
walking our customers through exactly what they do and don’t need so they can leave
having had a really good experience. For instance, one of the things we do is we send a
video direct to our customers when their cars are in the workshop, explaining and
demonstrating what does and doesn’t need attention. We have an amazing team with a
wealth of experience and they have been incredible at embracing new ideas and new
technology”
Hillclimb were commended for their entrepreneurial drive, impressive customer-friendly
website, willingness to invest in new equipment and commitment to delivering first-class
customer service.
The competition saw winners Hillclimb Garage, with the High Wycombe-based workshop,
pick up the £1000 prize. The prize money has been donated as sponsorship directly to The
SoapBox Challenge, which takes place at KopHill Climb Festival on 15 th and 16 th September –
a children charity event that sees teams of 10-14 year olds build and race their own karts.
The accolade puts Hillclimb Garage at the forefront of the industry and this comes in
addition to being recognised by Wycombe District Council at the recent Buckinghamshire
Business Awards, where they received the Bill Bendyshe-Brown Awards For SME Excellence.
Nicola says “It’s been an incredible year where we have literally doubled in size in the last 6
months and our plans for the future will see more innovation that will be great news for our
existing and new customers. Right now we are looking urgently for more like-minded techs
to expand with us, but we also are really hoping to take on an apprentice by the end of the
year”
