Holywell Lido repoens
Holywell Mead Lido re-opened with a new look and a new name last Saturday (5th May 2012), after a £2 million makeover which has transformed the site and introduced an impressive range of new facilities for members.
Wycombe Rye Lido, as the site will now be known, has been closed since last autumn while it underwent extensive renovations, including refurbishment of the original 1950s outdoor pool area, along with the addition of a brand new gym, group exercise studio, indoor cycling studio and new changing facilities for the gym and studio users.
The newly revamped Lido will also benefit from a fantastic new café, The Lido Kitchen, serving delicious meals in the daytime and evening, both inside or outside on the terrace overlooking the pool and the Rye.
The centre will be unveiled to local residents in stages, with the re-opening of the new reception area and heated outdoor pool on Saturday being the first stage. During the day, the pool was visited by Councillor Trevor Snaith, local resident Suzanne Grant, who was present when the pool first opened in the 50’s, and Chris Woodman from the High Wycombe Society.
This will be followed in June by the launch of the fitness centre, which will open for gym users, indoor cycling and over 60 different exercise classes per week. The Lido Kitchen and newly built meeting/activity room will also open in June, providing an extra space in which to relax and enjoy the facilities, or host a private function.
Memberships for Wycombe Rye Lido are now on sale, with great pre-opening offers already being snapped up. Get 15 months for the price of 12 for annual membership, plus May is free and there is no joining fee. Standard memberships are also very competitive at just £40 per month for unlimited use of all facilities during opening hours.
