Downley man raises thousands for BURPS charity
A Downley man has raised much-needed funds for Stoke Mandeville Hospital by running 14 marathons in 14 days. Andrew Springford, who lives in Downley, decided to put on his running boots on August 4 this year, and trekked to the Aylesbury-based hospital every day for two consecutive weeks.

Man who shot PC with crossbow is jailed
A man who shot a policeman in the leg with a crossbow after officers were called to a neighbour dispute has been jailed for nine years. Jason King, 55, stabbed a neighbour's partner in the stomach near High Wycombe, Buckinghamshire, and then fired at PC Curtis Foster on 10 May 2024.

Body found at Downley property after 'sudden death' report
A large number of police and paramedics responded to reports of a sudden death at a property on Wyatt Close yesterday evening. Thames Valley Police has now confirmed that the body of a woman in her thirties was found and that the death is being treated as 'unexpected'.

Plans have been lodged to install solar panels on the roof of a community centre in Downley. In planning documents, it said the panels would improve the financial viability of the centre, by providing a long-term revenue stream.

The Number 5 Carousel bus, which begins at the town’s bus station and concludes at Sir William Ramsey School, is due to cease at the end of this school term and will not be reintroduced for the new academic year begins in September.

Arrests made in High Wycombe stabbing along the Pastures
At around 11 pm on Tuesday, July 8, officers from Thames Valley Police attended the scene along the Pastures, which is connected to Downley. Two men in their 20s suffered serious injuries in the incident and were taken to hospital, where they remain. It has now been confirmed that a 20-year-old man from Aylesbury and a 20-year-old man from High Wycombe were each arrested on suspicion of section 18 grievous bodily harm with intent.

Prolific Bucks shoplifter gets over two years in jail
Jordan Fowler, aged 29, of Old Tea Warehouse, High Wycombe, was sentenced to two years and three months in prison following a hearing at Aylesbury Crown Court last Monday. On November 17, 2024, Fowler, with another, stole laundry products belonging to Co-Op, Plomer Green Lane, Downley, High Wycombe, to a value of £193.40.

Man arrested in Downley for car-related crimes
Over the weekend officers from the West Neighbourhood team were patrolling the Downley / Disraeli area when they sighted a suspicious-looking BMW. Following a short pursuit and an even shorter foot chase, the man in question was arrested on suspicion of dangerous driving, failing to stop for a constable, driving otherwise in accordance of a license, driving without insurance and being in possession with intent to supply class B drug.

A police officer was shot in the leg with a crossbow and a man was stabbed in what was described as a "serious assault and weapons incident". Police attended School Close in Downley near High Wycombe on Friday after a man in his 60s suffered a stab wound.

Downley Dynamos boys loses battle with sepsis
Oliver Darlington - an avid Wycombe Wanderers fan - was "fit, healthy and strong" before contracting a "heavy cold" which led to sepsis. The teen, who also played football with Downley Dynamos, spent four days fighting for his life in intensive care in Southampton before he sadly passed away on January 3.

Police launch manhunt after man kidnapped and attacked in Downley
On Tuesday morning at around 12.30am, an 18-year-old man was forcibly walked into a wooded area near to Plomer Green Lane in Downley. He was then attacked by two men. He sustained cuts and grazes to his face but fortunately did not require hospital treatment.
